    Dooley: FoxPolitics doesn't do sports??

Well, what can you say about this week? Everywhere I turned all I heard was, Brett Favre. Brett Favre. Brett Favre. Brett Favre. Brett Favre. Brett Favre. Brett Favre. Brett Favre.

I’ve been wrestling all week trying to come up with a coherent opinion about this Brett Favre saga. Here’s what I have so far:

Ted Thompson: You have a fiduciary responsibility to put the best player at every position. If said player happens to wear the #4, so be it. If, however, you feel that player will be a distraction and thereby it may be a better choice to pass on that player, please do so. (T.O. comes to mind.) By the way folks, did we all forget that Ted Thompson was the Executive of the Year last year?

Brett Favre: You have a fiduciary responsibility to make up your mind. The team gave you plenty of time and space to make whatever decision you wanted. What they do not deserve is you changing your mind time after time after time. By the way, I thought you wanted to spend time with your family? Funny how a few months in Kiln makes you want to come back to Green Bay.

Sports Media: You had nothing else to report on seeing as Le Affaire‘de Favre broke in the middle of the All-Star break. You went after it with all the rabid gusto of a fresh Mike Tyson indictment. We expect nothing less.

John Madden: Brett Favre? Brett Favre! Brett Favre? Brett Favre! Brett Favre? Brett Favre! Geeeez.

Greta: I got the Interview and none of the rest of you hangers-on did!

Let’s put this into other terms. Suppose this morning’s paper had a headline from former Wisconsin Commerce Secretary Jack Fischer who had changed his mind about resigning his post last Friday. Jack has decided he’d like to return to his job of convincing companies to do business in Wisconsin because of our great bike paths. Should we let old traveling Jack back in? Let’s just say we did let Jack back and he came back touting bike paths and UW athletics before resigning again. (Just ignore that tax base Jack.)

Obviously it is not a fair point of comparison. I’m not sure if Jack Fischer actually ever won anything.

I was real excited Thursday morning when I turned on Sports Center and heard they were going to interview the Bengal’s Quarterback Carson Palmer. What’s the first question I heard? So, Carson, what do you think of the Brett Favre situation? My new hero responded, “Frankly, I’m a little tired of it.”

In more exciting news, the Brewers just swept their first road series since 1723 and are only one game out of a playoff spot.

Maybe that’s why I just haven’t been able to get excited about the Favre story. Let me know who the Packers’ starting QB is when the baseball season is over.
