Typical. Wants spending cuts, but no specifics
This is just too typical. Happens to be from the Sheboygan Press, and was the day before Thanksgiving (I'm just getting around to getting it posted - eeek); there are sure to be lots more in the coming weeks and months.
A newspaper editor demanding spending cuts - but no guts to detail those cuts. Ok, maybe it isn't no guts. I'll grant an editor the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it's that's it's just too complex to wade into in a 500-word piece. Or maybe it's just a lack of discipline. Or a lack of an all-encompassing knowledge of the budget. Or???
I was intrigued with the Tomah Journal's insistence last summer (rightly so, I thought) in asking candidates for specifics on cutting the budget. Now... whether they insisted on getting comparably specific details from opposing candidates, that I don't know. And also don't know if the Journal themselves has offered its ideas for same. I'll check it out in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, please let me know when you see anymore of this stuff - a grand-sounding request for budget cuts - accompanied by absolutely no specifics. Grrrr.
