Do you see any taxpayer groups included here?

A first-time coalition, the School Finance Network (SFN), will introduce a plan next Tuesday to change the state's school finance system. (Here's the Post-Crescent's take on the subject.)

SFN partners are the Wisconsin Alliance for Excellent Schools (WAES), the Fair Aid Coalition, WEAC, the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, the Southeastern Wisconsin Schools Alliance, AFT-Wisconsin, Wisconsin PTA, Schools Administrators Alliance and the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators.

    According to WAES:
WAES will spearhead a community-organizing, grassroots effort in the coming months to build coalitions throughout the state. Our job will be to unite educators, parents, students, business people, and taxpayers into the type of community coalition that can help shape sound public policy.
So who is it in SFN that's representing the Wisconsin taxpayer?

If you'd like to attend one of next week's rollout "events," you may be able to give the rest of us an idea if SFN means still more money spent on schools in Wisconsin. Below are listed those event times and locations around the state.
    • Tuesday, Feb. 3, 10 a.m., Green Bay West High School library, 966 Shawano Avenue, Green Bay.
    • Tuesday, Feb. 3, 12:30 p.m., West Allis Nathan Hale High School, 11601 West Lincoln Avenue, West Allis.
    • Tuesday, Feb. 3, 12:30 p.m., Glacier Edge Elementary School, 800 Kimball Lane, Verona (this event will include comments from Rep. Pope-Roberts).
    • Tuesday, Feb. 3, 12:30 p.m., Wausau West High School, 1200 West Wausau Avenue, Wausau.
    • Tuesday, Feb. 3, 12:30 p.m., Altoona High School library, 711 7th Street West, Altoona.
    • Wednesday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m., Rhinelander High school main lobby, 665 Coolidge Avenue, Rhinelander.
    • Wednesday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m., LaCrosse Central High School, 1801 Losey Boulevard, LaCrosse.
    • Wednesday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m., Racine's Walden III High School, 1012 Center Street, Racine.
    • Wednesday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m., Superior High School, 2600 Catlin Avenue, Superior.

    COMMENTS

The members of all of these groups are taxpayers. Some taxpayers understand the value of investing in education and the need to improve how Wisconsin does this.
