Schmuki: Recall Doyle is alive and well. Believe it.

Well, it seems the Recall Doyle grassroots effort has struck a nerve with the power elite. We understand that. You see, we taxpayers sat by for decades as the Parties systematically took turns handing down orders for us to open our wallets wider. Then when we finally spoke up and demanded a taxpayers’ bill of rights, we were ignored, so we know how that feels, too. We know that when you lose power, that hurts. We have experienced that feeling for a long time. We understand. In fact, we, the common people, understand a lot more than we are given credit for. We have watched decades of inaction from both parties. We have been used and abused by the power structure, so we understand that we the people have to take action to ensure that our best interests and not the special interests alone are paid attention to.

Now, what we don’t understand is that when we say something will get done and then we go ahead and do it, why you refuse to believe us. For instance, some very well known local personalities said that the Tom Ament recall, during the pension board scandal was “impossible.” We don’t need to start naming names do we? CRG –Citizens for Responsible Government, the grass roots group partnering in the Doyle recall, said that it could be done and then proceeded to do it, gathering 182,000 signatures in 28 days. Some well known local personalities say that a recall of our Governor is impossible, the same Governor that they do nothing more than whine about practically every day. We say we can do it and we will. They say we don’t know how to organize and are dead in the water, but thousands of volunteers who have signed on to date who say they are wrong.

So, to our detractors: before you declare us dead and buried, let’s take a look at your record and our record. We, who after having been declared dead so many times we should have started our own mortuary, are still very much alive; thank you very much. We, in a very few short weeks have amassed an army of volunteers and organizers and are readying phase 2. Please look at our map on WWW.RECALLDOYLE.COM. That sea of red support on our map is about to explode, thanks to an enthusiastic grass roots base that doesn’t know the word can’t. Every day we look at how far we have come and how fast with humble grassroots support and we get down on our knees and give thanks for the miracle that is unfolding before us. So to our skeptics who have declared us dead, believe us when we say we are not going away until Jim Doyle is out of office.

We at the recall Doyle team know who our real opponent is. Scott Walker has nothing to fear from us. Mark Neumann has nothing to fear from us. Nor does any fiscally conservative candidate from whatever party, for that matter. We have never taken our sights off Diamond Jim. He is the opponent of the hard working Wisconsinite taxpayers. And though we jokingly chide the pundits and the power brokers as they do us, these critics would all do well to join us in recognizing who is destroying the state we all love rather than waste energy in trying to declare us dead. We can accomplish great things joined together. Because together…yes we can, and we will…Change is coming. Believe it.
