Enough already with the swine flu

Ok. I’ll say it. I’ve had enough.

According to WBAY, grads at UW-Oshkosh won’t be receiving the traditional handshake from the chancellor on May 16th when they receive their diplomas.

    Give me a break.

How many Americans die every year from the flu? (Hint: 36,000.) Wash your hands America. At all the times you’re supposed to wash your hands. Like when you’ve been out in the public, after you’ve shaken the chancellor’s hand who shook 1,500 other people’s hands. Before you eat. Before meal preparation. Before you care for your toddler child or infirm parent.

Enough already with the swine flu. Here's more inanity, from the Eau Claire Leader Telegram account of graduation plans:
Some UW-Oshkosh graduating seniors think skipping the customary handshake from the chancellor is an overreaction. Lore Balde said she invested a lot of time earning her degree and wants a handshake from university representatives.

Petra Roter, vice chancellor for student affairs, said many students understand the rationale behind the decision.

Packets of hand sanitizer will be given to everyone who attends.
Congratulations to school districts in Green Bay, Appleton and Manitowoc who so far apparently won’t be eliminating the good ol’ handshake from the Superintendent.

Ok, so hindsight is 20/20. I don’t even want to think about the nationwide economic cost of the uproar these last couple of weeks. Grrrr.
