    Liberty

Endlessly written about, and, I suppose, overused. Hopefully, you’re reflecting today on the liberties we have in this great United States of America. Perhaps too, you, like I, are pondering a nation becoming all too willing to quash those liberties. Liberties to make our own mistakes – and then to forge our own paths, make our own way.

Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform and mastermind of the fabled Wednesday morning D.C. Center-Right Coalition meetings, has of late come to speak of conservatives as the “Leave us Alone” coalition.
We may not agree on all of it, but what we can agree on is liberty. Being granted the liberty to be left alone. In books and articles the last few years, Norquist speaks of members of the coalition who simply want to be left alone.
    • Businessmen and women – Leave my business alone; leave my earnings alone
    • Property owners – Leave my property alone
    • The growing “investor class” - Leave my retirement earnings alone
    • Taxpayers – Leave my money alone
    • Gun owners – leave my guns alone
    • Homeschoolers – leave my kids alone
    • The faithful – evangelicals, conservative Catholics, Muslims, Mormons, Jews – leave me alone to practice my faith
    • Parents – leave us alone to raise our children.
    Norquist brings us all together.
Why is a guy who wants to go to church all day in a room with a guy who wants to make money all day and the guy who wants to fire guns all day? What is it we have in common? We all want to be left alone in the zone that is most important in our lives. (Quoted by Dan gilgoff: Grover Norquist Gives Religious Conservatives Tough Love – read the whole thing. You have the liberty to both agree and disagree.)
Today, tomorrow, I celebrate sacred liberty granted me by the almighty and claimed for me by our courageous forefathers. Today, tomorrow and until I die, I will work to defend that liberty – the liberty to be left alone by ever-encroaching state and federal governments.

Celebrate your own liberty by attending the Tea Party of your choice tomorrow – in Antigo, Eagle River, Eau Claire, Fort Atkinson, Germantown, Janesville, La Crosse, Manitowoc, Mayville, Superior, Viroqua, Wausau. Details here.

Very nice Liberty post. People might also want to know there's a "freedom march" in Manitowoc on Saturday morning to demonstrate support for gun rights. Happy 4th!
