Individual votes, Outagamie Co. Sales Tax
As you may have read here earlier this week, Resolution No. 48, taken up by the Outagamie County Board Tuesday night, would have authorized “the formation of the County Sales Tax Study Ad Hoc Committee to study issues related to reducing the property tax levy, ramifications of a county sales tax to businesses and taxpayers and what goods and services will be subject to the use tax."
Resolution No. 48 was defeated by the County Board Tuesday night by supervisors committed to nixing any new sales tax in Outagamie County before it so much as sprouted.
Those Supervisors voting against the Resolution, i.e., opposing a county sales tax or even the study of it were (Thunes was absent):
Anthony, Shiocton Beckley, Appleton Culbertson, Greenville Defferding, Appleton Duncan, Grand Chute Hofacker, Ellington Steineke, Vandenbroek Kramer, Freedom Mahan, Appleton McAndrews, Buchanan Mueller, Appleton Pleuss, Grand Chute Schmidt, C., Appleton Stevens, Grand Chute Stueck, Appleton Thern, New London Vanden Heuvel, Little Chute Ware, Appleton Weyenberg, Black Creek
Those Supervisors voting in favor of the Resolution, i.e., willing to look at the possibility of a county sales tax in the future were:
Austin, Oneida De Groot, Little Chute Gitter, Hortonville Gosse, Appleton Hammen, Kimberly Herner, Appleton Hirte, Kaukauna Janssen, Appleton McDaniel, Kaukauna Nagler, Appleton Rabec, Appleton Sanderfoot, Kimberly Schmidt, A., Greenville Schommer, Kaukauna Schuette, Seymour Strauch, Appleton
The County Board also took up Resolution No. 53 Tuesday night, which would approve placing a moratorium on the enactment of any size sales tax until the 2015 budget, unless a majority of the Board voted to set aside such moratorium.
Those Supervisors voting in favor of the sales tax moratorium were (Thunes was absent):
