What is a "more violent terrorist?"

It’s John Gard one, Steve Kagen zero in one-on-one debates between Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District candidates. Even a non-biased observer of the League of Women Voters affair October 13 would have seen John Gard as sincere, passionate and focused - "been there done that." Steve Kagen seemed well-versed in Democratic National Committee talking points - though didn’t seem to know when was the right time or place to use each sound bite.

As a friend said, “How can you take a guy seriously when at one time during the debate he told us what he would do with the ‘more violent terrorists.’ What is a ‘more violent terrorist’??????” .

Speaker Gard won the fashion statement award as well. Well, the distinguished legislator award anyway. He looked the part. White shirt, professional red tie, well-fitting suit jacket. Dr. Kagen’s light blue tie washed him out and belied a look of strength. .
    .
Not to say Dr. Kagen didn’t drain his own credibility. His answers were canned – and rehearsed with hand gestures that didn't work well.

Speaker Gard was polished, informed. Almost surprisingly so. He repeatedly brought his legislative experience to the fore in addressing the critical issues of the campaign. He was specific in pointing out clear contradictions in Dr. Kagen’s policies. (Claims to support energy self-sufficiency – yet drives to events in a Suburban… hmmm.)

    Clear differences:

    • Taxes
    • Health care solutions
    • Immigration
    • Fighting Terrorism
    • Energy policy

FoxPolitics.net will review both candidates’ positions on critical issues in coming days.

The latest poll results show the candidates even, 3 weeks out from the election.

I spent about an hour and a half with John Gard during a community forum he held at FVL. I can tell you there is not a hairs difference between Gard's policy opinions and those of Bush. If you want more of the failed policies then vote for Gard. If you want a change vote for Kagen. Now, the debate also showed clear differences. One of the big differences is that Gard is long on feel good/feel tough statements but short on anything new. What would Gard do for immigration policy other than build a higher wall? How is Gard's terrorism knowledge expressed when he can only (unfairly ) say "unlike Dr. Kagen I wouldn't let terrorists on an airplane" oh please, not only was that a low blow but it is the typcal macho bull that got us into Iraq and keeps us there. And, regarding Kagen's "website" not publishing medical prices. Can you tell me any that do? Gard's supposed medical transparency bill didn't even cover outpatient. Kagen's office will quote you a price if you call which is more than I can say for other doctors. Oh, that crack about an SUV. Is Kagen supposed to drive a Prius just because he wants to have rational energy policies? What Kagen wants is an SUV that gets good mileage. I guess he and the rest of us will have to wait for Toyota to build it because we don't mandate higher CAFE standards.
Dr. Kagen has saved lives and has had a real job. Gard has done neither. He is, was, and wants to be a professional politician. And one thing for sure, Kagen can't be bought. Gard has already been bought and paid for, he hopes to go to Washington to complete the deal.
