From WisPolitics, Great Quotes of the Week

Great stuff this week from WisPolitics. First, from Rep. Ryan
I'll give you as Shermanesque a quote as I can. I am not going to run for president. I'm just not going to do it. My head's not that big, and my kids are too small. - U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan telling "UpFront with Mike Gousha" that people have encouraged him to run for president, but he has no interest in a bid. Watch the show on Sunday. See details below.
[George Will calls Rep. Ryan the next Vice Presidential candidate. I love it.]
I know the rules, and I know how restrictive they are. I would never do anything to affect the work I do here in the state Assembly. - Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan, D-Janesville, insisting he's done nothing illegal and has the support of his caucus after disclosing his relationship with a lobbyist for the payday lending industry. See more in Quorum Call

He said 'Bring me back something we're going to have the votes to pass, not only in the Assembly but the Senate.' - Rep. Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh and lead sponsor of a bill to cap payday loan interest rates, indicating he has confidence in Sheridan and that the speaker assured him all along that the legislation would move if it had support. Hintz and other lawmakers may have a new version of the proposal ready as soon as next week.
You tell me – the bill won’t cap interest rates. Doesn’t sound too restrictive to me. In 2007, Sheridan co-sponsored legislation that would have capped Pay Day interest rates at 36%. What happened to that?
Even an eternal candidate like him must understand that voters in Wisconsin aren't going to fork over campaign cash to someone whose list of failures and record of mismanagement just keeps on growing. - State Democratic Party Chair Mike Tate alleging that Milwaukee Co. Exec. Scott Walker is spending campaign cash at a "staggeringly high rate" in his race for governor. Walker listed nearly $900,000 in disbursements in his latest campaign finance report.

If Scott Walker had parted the Red Sea, Mike Tate would say that he killed too many fish. - Reince Priebus, chairman of the state GOP, noting that Walker's cash total, donors and poll numbers are each ahead of Dem rival Tom Barrett at this stage.
    Good stuff Reince. Love it.
In my house, if we came home with Cs, there was a definite directive to get to work. - Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton giving Wisconsin a C for its acceptance of women in politics. Lawton has steadfastly refused to give specifics on why she unexpectedly dropped out of the governor’s race last fall, but an aide this week said the lt. guv faced an "old boys network" that lined up against her campaign. She reported raising $77,533 during the second half of 2009 as she got into the guv's race and then suddenly dropped out.

Does this not sound like an average Democrat? It sounds like this could easily be Russ Feingold, the senator from Wisconsin. - Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh comparing Feingold to the latest remarks on climate change in a tape from Osama bin Laden. Feingold's campaign repudiated the remarks, saying they represent "the sort of slash and burn politics that we are up against." See more in DC Wrap.
Yeah. Great stuff. As always, great work, WisPolitics.
