WI Global Warming Bill lacks details

Call it what you will – the “Clean Energy Bill” or the more expansive, Dem-named “Clean Energy Jobs Act” (put “Jobs” in a title and I guess that’s supposed to turn a sow’s ear into a purse these days) or the “Global Warming Bill” (the Bill is, after all, the product of the governor’s “Global Warming Task Force”) – important details, like how much it costs, are missing.
[State Rep. Jeff ] Fitzgerald [R-Horicon] joined state Reps. Michael Huebsch, R-West Salem; Phil Montgomery, R-Green Bay; and Scott Gunderson, R-Waterford, in sending letters this week to the secretaries of the state departments of Commerce and Natural Resources and to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin requesting cost and job tallies associated with the bill.
Rep. James Soletski, D-Green Bay, says it’s way to soon – and hence “Unfair” to sum of the costs of the bill.
“What’s out there now is not what’s going to be coming up for a vote on the floor, and I know that because there are amendments I want to see made.”

Soletski, one of the bill’s four co-sponsors, said there will be a cost analysis attached by the time the Senate and Assembly vote on the bill.

PSC spokesman Tim Le Monds said the commission just received the lawmakers’ letter and intends to respond.
Wow. Debating this huge bill with astoundingly major implications for Wisconsin ratepayers, taxpayers, manufacturers and utility companies – with no clues about the costs. That’s just unbelievable to me.

Excellent stuff is in each of the Representatives’ letters, linked (courtesy of the Daily Reporter) below. Check them out – they summarize very well serious concerns some in the state have with this massive, complex bill that is replete with eye-popping mandates.

To Dick Leinenkugel, Secretary, WI Dept. of Commerce
To suggest that higher prices for gas at the pump, cars sold in Wisconsin and new homes built in the state won’t have an economic impact on consumers and job creation stretches the bounds of credibility. If the Administration’s impending cost-benefit analysis includes only a portion of the new mandates, regulations and programs in Governor Doyle’s Global Warming legislation, it will be of little value to lawmakers who are evaluating its impact on our constituents.
    To Matt Frank, Secretary, DNR

    To Eric Callisto, Chairman, PSC

Well, some people think that the bill has some merit.

"New industry-recognized research shows the package is expected to create at least 15,000 green jobs in Wisconsin by 2025. More than 1,800 jobs would be created in the first year alone. The assessment also found that between 800 and 1,800 construction jobs would be created each year from 2011-2025, and more than 2,000 manufacturing jobs would be created once the laws are fully implemented."

31,400 United States scientists have signed a petition saying they do not believe man made green house gases have had any affect on the climate of the earth. Have you read the leaked email documents and skewed data related to the Climategate scandal?

Well, how about a poll of earth scientists?
Here is a link, one of many I found with a quick search. Take note that of the climatologists 97% agree that AGW is real.
    http://news.mongabay.com/2009/0122-climate.html

"A new poll among 3,146 earth scientists found that 90 percent believe global warming is real, while 82 percent agree that human activity been a significant factor in changing mean global temperatures.

The survey, conducted among researchers listed in the American Geological Institute's Directory of Geoscience Departments*, "found that climatologists who are active in research showed the strongest consensus on the causes of global warming, with 97 percent agreeing humans play a role". The biggest doubters were petroleum geologists (47 percent) and meteorologists (64 percent). A recent poll suggests that 58 percent of Americans believe that human activity contributes to climate change."
