    Kagen undecided?

Kagen was on the short list of possibly flipping House members as of about 10 days ago. He disappeared from those lists about a week ago and instead shows up as a firm Yes on the scores of whip lists published in the last week.

MacIver News says a call to Kagen’s office brought some hedging.
The Washington, D.C publication The Hill lists Wisconsin Congressman Steve Kagen (D) as a “firm yes” in their just-updated online ‘whip count’ of the final vote, while his colleague Congressman Ron Kind (D) is listed as one of 57 Democrats who are currently undecided.

…. While The Hill reported Kagen is a ‘firm yes,’ vote, our call to the Congressman’s Washington D.C. office revealed a bit less certainty.

A representative for Kagen told the MacIver Institute that it was still unknown at this time how the Green Bay Democrat would vote on the Senate bill.
And perhaps Citizens United knows something we don’t as well, putting up an ad yesterday throughout Kagen’s district.
"Tell him to fix the economy, not destroy our health care system," the narrator says. "Vote no on Obamacare, yes on jobs."
Now is the time. Whether or not you’ve made your views known, it’s time again. Phone (202- 225-5665), e-mail** or have what promises to be a rollicking good time. Tonight. A peaceful protest sponsored by the Fox Valley Initiative will gather Wednesday evening at 6pm at Congressman Kagen’s Green Bay office, 700 E. Walnut Street. Bring signs, friends and family - everyone you know!

** (I’m not sure about that e-mail link to the "Contact Us" page on Rep. Kagen's web site; a warning sign popped up – you know the type “this site not trusted…” Does anyone else get that same problem? It was ok last week – could the Kagen office have shut it down? My Firefox notice includes the standard “If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.” Oh my.)

    COMMENTS

I've been e-mailing Kagen for the past couple of weeks and encouraging practically everyone I know to contact him, either calling or e-mailing, to protest this grotesque pretense of health care for all. It would be laughable if not so tragic for our country and our descendants.

I've heard from a reliable source that Kagen will not be flipped.

The reason you're getting "iffy" reports from Kagen's office is because it's a standard maneuver. His e-mails and letters are masters of agreement and disagreement.

At least Feingold wrote me that we'd have to agree to disagree.

I'd also like to point out that any new bill that needs over 4,000 pages to coerce me into doing what the government wants me to do is immediately suspect and all the other underhanded shenanigans aren't making me think any the better of it.

No, the Republicans did not use reconciliation the way the Dems want to and "deeming" is just a word for, "because we said so". Because they deem it to be so, does not mean there was actually a vote on this. It seems the Democrats live in a "virtual" world but we live in the real world.

Apparently Rep. Kagen lives in that "virtual" world.

You mean the guy that "Wrote the Health Care Bill" may not vote for it ?

He has a bridge to sell you too!

C.R. What is grotesque is our "system" of health care.

What is the difference how the Nuclear option is used? If the Republicans do it is ok? It doesn't matter which party uses it, it is flat out wrong.

As an example, the Vietnam war was never declared by Kennedy or Johnson, neither did Bush declare the Afghan/Iraq a war. How and why do we let our leaders subvert the Constitution? Both sides do it, and we should not allow either side to do so.
