ESTHER is nonpolitical?
The Post-Crescent took the bait and covered Rep. Steve Kagen's coming home, "travel weary" and touting passage of the health care bill "before a gathering of media and about three dozen supporters at the Outagamie County Regional Airport." The liberal advocacy group Citizen Action Wisconsin did the press release work for Dr. Kagen:

Congressman Made Historic Votes for Health Care Reform
Appleton: Health care reform supporters will gather at the Outagamie County Regional Airport this afternoon to welcome Congressman Steve Kagen (D-Appleton) home after his historic votes for health care reform. Members and activists from Citizen Action of Wisconsin, Organizing for America, ESTHER, Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, and other coalition partners will participate in the event. Dr. Kagen will also be available for press comment.
"We believe that the courageous and historic votes Congressman Kagen took this week are worthy of a heroes welcome home," said Robert Kraig, Executive Director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin. "Like votes earlier in our history for Social Security, Medicare, and the Civil Rights Act, this vote will be remembered for generations to come."

Just to keep things truthful, ESTHER was NOT a part of the Rep. Steve Kagen welcome home. The mentioning of our organization was an error. Information was not sent out from ESTHER regarding this event and no effort was put into encouraging our leaders to attend. In fact, our health care task force dissolved a little more than a month ago.

I'm still at a loss as to how the churches allowed these groups, including ESTHER, to become so involved in church affairs and to actually give them money without, apparently, vetting them.
Actually, I have a few ideas about it but have heard nothing publicly. Has anyone else any ideas or heard anything regarding this?
