Sen. Grothman is at it again

    Good for him!

Grothman to MPS: Leave Arizona Alone and Focus on Solving the Problems in Your Own School District
Today, Senator Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend) told the Milwaukee Public School Board to focus on the quality of their schools and stop second guessing other states’ laws. The Milwaukee School Board is considering waging economic warfare against the State of Arizona because of their new immigration law by boycotting Arizona’s goods and services.

Newspaper articles in the past month once more showed Milwaukee as one of the worst urban school districts in the country as determined by the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Dave Gordon, superintendent of the schools in Sacramento, said Milwaukee’s lack of achievement stemmed from its lack of urgency for a coherent plan for reading.

“It’s scary – MPS kids can’t read but the MPS Board is going to use its billion dollar budget to stop doing business with Arizona and instead transfer those sales to companies in Mexico, China, India, or other states,” said Grothman. “Wisconsin’s taxpayers are flooding money into Milwaukee which spends about 15% more per child than the state average, and we hear stories about high school graduates unable to read. I hope more citizens, parents, and high school students would question this action as an unconstitutional interference with interstate commerce under the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution.”

“After reading about MPS grand plan to boycott Arizona, I frankly would be scared to send any child into a school district run by such intolerant, mean-spirited radicals,” said Grothman. “It’s time to focus on getting MPS students to read, not throwing Americans living in Arizona out of work.”

“It’s clear the State Legislature must again focus on the governance of MPS in January,” said Grothman.
Glenn Grothman is a Republican and represents the residents of the 20th Senate District (West Bend).

    COMMENTS

As soon as word got out about this idiocy I sent an e-mail to the board expressing my displeasure with their decision to boycott Arizona and asking them if they're trying to make Wisconsin as big a laughingstock as California now is.

Who do these ignorant-of-the-law yahoos think they are and wherever did they get the idea this was part of their duties?

    Throw the bums out!
