Dishing it out…
With all due respect to our state’s great dairy farmers – and especially to those in Dane County, is it all too appropriate that Dane County is installing a community manure digester?
At first glance, I thought they were talking about the Capitol.

Interesting--considering the two digesters that were operational in Brown County (Tinedale and Stencil) have both been shut down by their owners (see note below Figure 1) If they were profitable investments, ...

Fascinating report. Don't have time to even peruse it at the moment, but will. Don't see an indication that these digesters don't pay for themselves, but haven't looked far. Thanks K. Andrew.

Digesters do not pay for themselves through the payments for electricity alone. They also reduce odors and reduce the mass of the material to be disposed of (hauled).
From peronal experience, dairy farms do not pay for themselves either right now.
