Mr. Kratz, Esquire - time to resign

Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz’s nearly year-long struggle to avoid his sexually suggestive texting going public failed yesterday when news of the incident broke.

Calumet DA sent woman racy texts
Calumet County's district attorney tried to start a relationship with a domestic violence victim by sending her 30 text messages over three days while he was prosecuting her ex-boyfriend.

In one of the texts, District Attorney Kenneth R. Kratz asked if the woman is "the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA," according to a report from the Kaukauna Police Department. In another text, Kratz wrote, "I know this is wrong."
Kratz must do the right thing – step down.
The director of the Midwest Domestic Violence Resource Center said Kratz abused his power, violated Van Groll's trust and should resign.

"If he is capable of doing this once, he is capable of repeating the behavior," Darald Hanusa said.
    However…
The Office of Lawyer Regulation concluded in March that Kratz's behavior was inappropriate but did not amount to misconduct, a finding strongly criticized Thursday in media outlets across the state. The office's director, Keith Sellen, said questions were appropriate but he could not comment under rules that require investigations to stay confidential.
And... there's the minor point that Kratz outright refuses to resign - and says there's nothing more to say. Oh my. Actions, Ken, have consequences.

Kratz is up for re-election in 2012 and according to news accounts, plans to run again. No Ken. It’s time to resign. Now. Do the right thing.

Gee, I don't know for sure but he must be a Democrat to be targeted here.

You mean then, he's not pure?

Not only is he pure, Jack, in his own words:

"Im the atty. I have the $350,000 house. I have the 6-figure career. You may be the tall, young, hot nymph, but I am the prize!"

Let's see you work that into some kind of campaign finance reform issue.

    Not Sexual? Come on!
He certainly did not act as a person in the Public Trust.

    Mr Kratz. Please Resign.

Well Duke, the irony is that he is a repugnant Republican, and he indeed should resign. I just didn't think we had any repugnant Republicans.

And no, it has nothing to do with campaign finance, it has only to do with personal ethics. But on that subject, first dig hole and then insert head.

In another article you posted re: Kagen and the paper industry, representative Kagen states that certain countries are not "playing by the rules".

We are not "playing". This is serious business. My dad used to have a bumper sticker that said "paper makes Wisconsin great! Not any more.

Our representatives should be working tirelessly, night and day to open the paper mills.

Ken R. Kratz should be fired, prosecuted
for mental abuse as an attorney.

Please this has nothing and I mean nothing to do with him being a Rep,Dem,tea party or another party; its just what is right and wrong. This DA
needs to resign immediately as he is a sicko and needs to get professional help.He is a disgrace to the Office of the DA and his conduct was completely wrong and out of order. Resign now Ken.

Must be something in the water. A Winnebago county DA goes to jail for selling favors, a Calumet County DA propositions a client, a Kenosha county DA says that teachers who teach the state sex education courses could go to jail for violating the state's sexual predator laws. Just goes to show you that the people can elect flawed politicians, DAs judges. i am surprised that the law doesn't allow him to be fired for this. THAT outta be changed.

Dave, law allows for Governor to fire a D.A. Interesting.

    Jo,
Thanks for the reference. I had heard that there needs to be certain cause and this wasn't the "cause". I couldn't link to the reference. But, let's say the Gov. can do it and not expose the state to a long drawn out lawsuit. In that case he should do it. I suppose that's why he is meeting with Van Holland. In fact, rather than letting the DA resign, he should be fired.
