Ok, Feingold. But did they have to drool all over him?

Perhaps it’s time the Post-Crescent recognized what really goes on outside their ivory tower.

Yesterday they drooled all over Russ Feingold. Russ is honest with the people – “a man of principle, integrity, forthrightness and clarity…”
His track record shows that he's a paragon of responsible governing — if you spend more, you have to find cuts to go with it; earmarks are wrong; Congress has to be accountable for its actions.
And on and on for over 1,000 words. Geeeeez.

Are they out of touch with their readers? Does it matter?

Like their big government cohorts, these guys can’t stand the fact that Johnson isn’t going to Washington with big plans for big new government programs.

And talk about a guy being honest with the people.
When asked what spending cuts [Johnson] supports, he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "There's billions of dollars for cutting. But I'm not going to get in the game here and, you know, start naming specific things to be attacked about, quite honestly."
    And then the corker:
That's cowardly — a candidate who's trying to get elected rather than being straight with voters.
Cowardly. Johnson’s telling it like it is. Feingold’s spinning. Feingold’s a hero and Johnson’s a coward.

Yeah, Feingold knows how to spin it. But let’s call it what it is. If one believe in Feingold’s big government votes, fine, one should support him.

Friday I learned of a business owner friend who pulled thousands of dollars of advertising from the Post-Crescent for the coming year because of its editors’ repeated refusal to support the small business person in this community. Perhaps one of these days, they will get the message who it is that generates all those tax revenues Senator Feingold loves to spend.

Update: Jud Lounsbury points out that Feingold is the only statewide candidate to receive endorsements from all of Wisconsin's largest papers. Ok, fine. I wonder if they all drooled. "...but it's noteworthy that all of these newspapers, except the Appleton Post-Crescent endorsed Republican Scott Walker for Governor." [my emphasis] Yup. There they go again.

    COMMENTS

Don't tell me you are really surprised, Jo. I'm sure not. I recall it being predicted on the blogs early last week that the Gannett group of newspapers would do an across the board endorsement of the Democrats. Prophecy fulfilled. I did see the the GB paper endorsed Ribble. Wonder if their editor will be "called on the carpet" for now towing the line??? I do hope that voters see through the rhetoric and lies. I sincerely hope that the electorate educate themselves. I saw posted on the PC website several posters stating that they vote for opponent of whomever the PC endorses because that opponent is likely the conservative - most often the Republican. Enuf said.
