Walker’s Inauguration day – moving, inspiring
I drove to Madison with friends yesterday for the Walker Prayer Breakfast and Inauguration. The interfaith (Christian, Hindu, Islam, Buddhist) was very moving, inspiring. Many prayers were offered up for those in the incoming administration and their families – and for our soldiers and the residents of our great state.
The son of a Baptist minister, Governor Walker read two scripture verses as part of his comments.

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. Do you not know?

One more quick comment. I noticed in the Daily Reporter’s account of the inauguration and accompanying protests (Their signs read “We need good jobs NOW!”), State Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Waunakee) “blasted the proceedings, saying in a statement, ‘I cannot ever recall the Capitol being locked.’” Actually, yes, all doors were locked but one. Information officers (or security guards?) kindly directed visitors to a single door open to the public. So no, the Capitol was not locked. Access to stairs up to the seating area required tickets, yes. Any without tickets were welcome to stand on the ground floor where the ceremony was easily heard and most everything could be seen. I was surprised at the complete lack of security checks on entering the building. However, when a few protestors among us on the ground floor began screaming loudly and cursing, security guards were summoned and they dragged the disrupters away.
No, the Capitol was not locked.
