    Reparations to Iraq

Only once in a while does FoxPolitics stray beyond its daily fare of local and state policy and political news. But yesterday, on the anniversary of 9/11 – and today, in dismay and disbelief – we stray to federal issues. The war.

Several FoxPolitics readers commented on – and the blog world is awash in – Dennis Kucinich’s meeting last week with President Assad of Syria.

    Judge for yourself
    Treasonous pronouncements?
Excerpts from the transcript (or the video) of Representative Kucinich speaking with Syrian TV earlier this month:
“…we must have [a process] that … with the help of Syria and Iran, would bring an international peace-keeping force, move it in as our troops leave, so there is no vacuum.”
“…there is a role for the U.N….people … who understand that not only must we stabilize Iraq, but we also must pay reparations to the people of Iraq for the great human tragedy that has been caused.”
“The United States must take steps to repair the damage that has been done to the lives of the people of Iraq…”
“[Reconciliation] cannot occur as long as there is an occupation.”

And on and on and on. Very, very damning. One FoxPolitics reader said treasonous.

    Or courageous man?
And then this, posted on the liberal Daily Kos web site by a reader commenting on Kucinich in the video:
“…the human spirit can always sense the truth.”
“I am simply amazed at the courage of this man.“
“This is what the face of America should look like to the world….”

Read the transcript for yourself and tell me what you think.
    Kucinich - treasonous or courageous?

What a country we are, forbearing in the presence of this damning speech. Maybe even treasonous speech. (Reparations?) Surely propaganda for President Assad and the mullahs of Iran. Is it an irony that we were just yesterday talking about Patriot Day?

    COMMENTS

If it were not for the fact the Mr. Kucinich is a presidential candidate and the drive-by media always looks for the dunce who steps in it real deep, he would remain a little known backwater congressman.

What of any earned importance has this man done? I haven't a clue. He's simply a funny looking man of diminutive stature who has a handsome wife and is the darling of the print cartoon world.

The sad reality is that he is also treasonous in his comments, and clearly not a defender of the United States.

Fortunately most Wisconsinite's moral compass points toward Kucinich unlike the
    writer's comment above.

A recent over-the-air telephone poll gave Kucinich 2/3 of the votes during the hour long program.
Oh my. Which radio station Lon? Public radio? Who were the other choices? Yes, Rep. Kucinich seems a very informed, sincere man. But what ammunition did he give these countries? JE

    Jo,
Score your self one and lose one...

    From Wisconsin Public Radio website:

    PRESIDENTIAL STRAW POLLS
Here are the results from the latest (August 13):
    *Dennis Kucinich (D) - 17 votes
*Hillary Clinton (D) and Ron Paul (R) - 10 each
    *Barack Obama (D) - 4
*John Edwards (D), Rudy Giuliani (R), Bill Richardson (D), Mitt Romney (R) - 2 each
*Joe Biden (D), George W Bush (R), John McCain (R), Ralph Nader, Fred Thompson (R), Green Party candidates, anyone but Clinton, none of the above - 1 each

As you can see, the poll was not limited to a single party.
But Lon, check your frame of reference. And of course, check your size of sample. How much can I rely on a WPR (that pretty much is a single party) sample size of 55. Hmmm. JE
